10% of total money goes to most Tagged Blue or Black Marlin

Do You Want To Fish In This Tournament?

Greetings! Do you want to fish in this tournament, but you're not sure how to go about setting up a boat to charter on? I can put you in contact with professional boat captains and crews to keep you entertained and competitive in the tournament. I also have a few friends that are willing to charter at a extremely fair rate as long as you enter the tournament.

If you have your own boat and would rather fish on that, no problem, there is no size restriction. I hope to see you all out there fishing for a great cause!

Help Make Dreams Come True

Ever since I can remember, fishing has been something that has brought immeasurable joy to my life. As I reached adulthood, fishing became my profession and continues to be my passion. I've been very blessed to travel the world fishing. One of the benefits of my job is that I get to share my passion for fishing with others on a daily basis.
On a recent fishing trip, I had the opportunity to enjoy a day of fishing with a young developmentally disabled child. After spending a day with the child and seeing how catching even the smallest fish resulted in so much happiness and wonder for him, I decided that I wanted to bring that happiness and share my passion with more people while helping a great cause.

I've decided to launch a fishing tournament where the proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics of Hawaii. I can't think of a better way to raise money for Special Olympics than by fishing. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The Special Olympics is an organization that I hold close to my heart, as my Uncle Richard Franz was a participant and athlete in Special Olympics for many years. In the Hawaiian culture, "uncle" takes on a special meaning as referring to an elder that you hold in high regard.
I have witnessed first hand the positive impact that Special Olympics has on the lives of the athletes, their friends and families, as well as changing the lives of the volunteers. A price cannot be placed on the smiles on the faces of these athletes and their families. Unfortunately, there is a price associated with funding Special Olympics programming such as the competitions, sports and training, development, outreach, and providing family and public education. Special Olympics does not charge its athletes to train and compete in its activities, it becomes a challenge to provide everyone with a chance to benefit from Special Olympics of Hawaii. Please help me raise money to ensure that every athlete can participate!

In order to make this event successful, I will need help raising money for the event execution. I am looking for charitable donations and prizes to be won, given away, and raffled to raise money for our cause. All donations will be publicly recognized. I know we can all gain a lot from this event and have fun while raising money for the Special Olympics.

About Special Olympics Hawaii

Special Olympics is founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports, adapted as necessary to meet the needs of those with special mental and physical limitations.

Special Olympics believes that consistent training is essential to the development of sport skills. In addition, competition among those of equal abilities is the most appropriate means of testing these skills, measuring progress and providing incentives for personal growth.
Special Olympics believes that through sports training and competition, people with intellectual disabilities benefit physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Families are also strengthened; and the community at large, can participate in and observe an environment of equality, respect and acceptance.

Special Olympics believes that every person with intellectual disabilities who is at least eight years old should have the opportunity to participate in and benefit from sports training and competition. Special Olympics also permits individual programs to accept children from ages six to seven for training, but these children may not participate in Special Olympics competition.

Meet Richard Franz

Meet my Uncle Richard...

Richard Franz is 69 years old. He was born on February, 8, 1938 in Hartford Connecticut. We have been blessed to have Richard live with our family for most of my life.

My Uncle Richard is very social. He loves to meet new people. Richard also loves to eat! His favorite foods are hamburgers, ice cream ,and pie. He likes to drink root beer and ginger ale. He loves cats, especially white cats. He loves to work in the yard and help out in the garden.

My Uncle Richard Franz was a participant and athlete in Special Olympics for many years. His favorite events were bowling and tennis ball throw. In the Hawaiian culture, "uncle" takes on a special meaning as referring to an elder that you hold in high regard.

Uncle Richard's Special Olympics Tournament Seeks Donations

The First Annual Uncle Richard's Special Olympics Tournament will run Saturday, August 25 2007 in Kona, Hawaii. There is an entrance fee of $350 for this modified release tournament that will feature cash and prizes for the largest marlin, mahi mahi, ahi and ono. Captain Kenton Geer is also seeking donations to help get this charitable tournament off the ground! Prize and Cash Donations Welcome!
